This is a very good toothbrush which is now at a very good price point. I have now ordered 3 of these toothbrushes for various family members, the first one has just died after about 2 years but i’m not sure if this was because it was left on charge too much. I found out that the battery life is longer if it is only charged up when needed so make sure you don’t do what we did and keep it permanently on the charger. The second one is still going strong (or so my daughter tells me) and that one is just under a year old. The 3rd one has just arrived and seems very good so i’m keeping my fingers crossed that the last 2 last longer than 2years.
After over 2 years of use this brush is still going strong. The build quality is what you would expect from a world leader and this brush has a few useful features – the different brushing strength is useful – especially as, at times, my gums are particularly sensitive. I haven’t found the monitor particularly useful – though it might help those with children – what kid doesn’t like to have a target to aim for oand a pat on the back when they achieve the recommended 2 minutes. Also it might help them to remember what quadrant the are meant to be brushing. Obviously the most important aspect is the clean and i can’t fault it on that. If you care about your teeth then this is as good as i’ve ever had.
I always stick to a good dental hygiene regime and about a year ago i decided my toothbrush could do with an upgrade and spent ages trying to figure out what would be the best buy. In the end though my mother went out and bought me this oral-b triumph 5000 which was being touted as the best of the best. 0 but she paid £125 for it on sale, and it seems to always be on sale somewhere so you should never have to pay that much for it. The toothbrush comes with a charging stand, 3 brush heads, a travel case and a `smartguide’. The charging stand is very useful because it not only houses the brush and charges it, but also has a covered storage area for 4 brush heads. This is great if you’re sharing the brush with other people or use more than one kind of head, because you can simply swap the heads over and not have to worry about where to put them. The brush itself is very simple to operate, with 2 buttons and a digital display. The first, larger button switches the brush on and off, whilst the second, smaller button switches through the different brush modes. The digital display simply shows the battery charge level.
After a toe curling visit to the dental hygenist and a smack on the hands for too much plaque i was convined that investing a new plaque busting toothbrush was a very good idea. If the price puts you off at first, it did me, think again. This is probably the best electric toothbrush i have ever owned and i have had a few in my life. I thought my philips sonic toothbrush was great when i bought it 4 years ago but recently it has been flagging a bit and i now realise the more traditional brush shape didn’t actually get great results. The new braun is definitly better. The shape of the brush means it cups each tooth and actually gets in between the teeth to clean those hidden places with a flossing action. The handy audible beeps keep you on track with the correct timings and the wireless monitor is actually more useful than i thought it would be. It comes with three heads, a soft one, a flossing one and a polishing one. All three are useful and i usually use the polosiing one at least once a week. This brush is recommended by dentisits so check if they sell braun replacement heads as they are usually a better price.

I was pleased with the previous version of this same toothbrush. Having had that for over 2 years, the rechargeable battery is perhaps not lasting as long between charges (even though still working) so bought this one. It brushes as well, if not better. But the re-charge time is now 24 hours or more (from when it tells you it needs re-charging) compared to 12 hours for the previous version. This is an irritating retrograde step – i got used to (when charging needed) set to recharge after use in the morning and have it fully charged by bedtime need to brush teeth. A good thing about the new brush charging is that it can be separate from the brush head holder (which i don’t use) so takes up less counter space in the bathroom. Swings and roundaboutsupdate nov 15: the charging indicator (between 1 and 3 lights showing how fully charged) is now not accurate. It goes down to two lights and then the toothbrush dies on you. It used to go down to one light before indicating it needed recharging but no longer. It’s about two and half years old – should it have worked normally for longer?.
This toothbrush is brilliant – not as harsh as some of the cheaper models. We liked it so much that we have had several over the years for various members of the family. The clock is a waste of time unless you want another clock for the sake of it. It beeps to tell you to change side and that is enough. It takes forever to fully charge and then the time it lasts is rather unpredictable – mine, for instance, always lasted less time than my husband’s – mine was lucky to do 4-5 days with us using it in pretty much the same way. Now several years old, my battery is next to useless. Braun do not offer a replacement service, stating as a reason, that it is impossible to replace the battery and retain waterproofing. (funny that, for i swam for years with my swatch watch, through many battery changes) so, the brush would get 5 stars but the battery probably 2, if i was feeling generous. I have no idea why it should take sooooo long to full charge.
Purchased this after a braun ‘sonic’ electric toothbrush finally gave up. The price is very similar to boots even when you take into account their points card. The product is well packaged. On unpacking the items i did not think that the horizontal toothbrush holder was as robust as the vertical toothbrush holder which was with the older sonic style. The plus point is that it will be much easier to clean. The instructions say that you can clean the toothbrush holder in a dishwasher. The plastic travel case is a bit on the thin side and i do not think it will last more than a couple of trips. There is a difference between the five cleaning modes. The main mode ‘daily clean’ works well and gives a much better clean than the sonic. My partner has sensitive teeth and is very happy with the ‘sensitive’ mode using the oral-b sensitive brush head.
